In the name of the Farmers, Suicides and the Holy water ... Amen!!!
This info is regarding various water project undertaken by the Krishna Khore Mahamandal. If we scrutinize the information only one conclusion can be drawn from it, instead of water money seems to be flowing in the rivers of Maharashtra. Unfortunately the cash is reaching only in the homes of Contractors, Politicians and Bureaucrats.
As a kid I use to visit my village every summer vacation, Many times I would accompany my grandmother to work in farms and its only when you work in a field you will recognized the hard work required to grow crops. Its just back breaking.
There is nothing more heart breaking than the fact that some farmers are committing suicide for a mere 10,000 to 20,000 rupees loan. There will be hardily any politician whos Mobile Phone in his back pocket is worth less than Rs. 30,000. There is a misconception among people that farmers commit suicide just coz they are poor, its mainly coz of high morals and the sense of Responsibility. Unmarried daughters, medical bills of old parents, education expenses, daily expenses makes the Rs 10,000 loan look like a big mountain to a farmer. Its only when the farmers feels that he is unable to carry the burden of responsibility he commits suicide. If our great Politicians could had shown just half the sense of responsibility .. the water projects could had been completed in time and many farmers would had never committed suicide. Water means life to a farmer, currently 80% of farmers are depended on rain water for harvesting, if these projects could had been completed they could had grown more crops, eventually making them prosper.
Its absolutely ridiculous that project started in 1967 is still under construction and more ridiculous is the fact that Dam work has been finished but canals have not been made. These people have a simple modus-oprendi, first start a project - make sure it gets to the contractor of the politicians-bureaucrats choice than revise the budget and keep the money flowing into there pockets. Most of the project needs funds, some have stuck in red tape even though both in center-state congress is ruling since last 10 years. I recall Rahul Gandhi's pet dialog during UP election, 'Kendra main hamari sarkar hain, agar rajya main bhi aayegi toh jald taraqqi hogi'. Wonder what he has to say to the Marathi farmer?
Since all most all the projects are under construction it raises only one question ... Do they really want to complete the project??? coz if you think the other way if the project is completed they wont be able to revise the budget and ask for more funds. These projects are nothing but a Goose that lays golden eggs.
We all are aware of our rights still we have to face so much hardships thanks to our great government servants. Just imagine what happens to a farmer who cant read or write. He has no choice but to believe whatever the Sarkari Saheb says. People in cities protest coz they are aware of their rights, What shall we expect from a farmer when he isn't even aware of his rights ???
May be we the educated masses in the cities need to be more sensitive
God Bless our Farmers
